A: A brand new London Production Guide in the works for the spring of 2001. This resource guide is a comprehensive directory of the rapidly growing London film, television, industrial and related media industry. It has been well researched using similar guides and associations. This directory will include contact information and advertising for all phases of production - video, film, print, electronic media and all of the supporting industries including hotels, restaurants, rental companies, insurance, legal, accounting, ad agencies, airlines, equipment, sets, caterers. There will also be a section on 'London' which will visually and descriptively highlight the area with marketing information provided by the City of London, Tourism London and a London locations manager. We will also provide all relative information for using London as a location . . . customs, tax incentives, permits, government services, sales taxes, holidays, points of interest, photos.
A: Your listings and ads are the best marketing tools for the region's rapidly growing production industry. Your information is an integral part of production and the industry uses this type of guide as their 'bible'. Traditionally, industry buyers keep guides on their desks and will use them over and over again for two to three years. On a local level, it is an essential networking resource for our own producers and crew who are aggressively and successfully producing local projects and as well, it's an additional incentive for potential film or TV investors. It can be used as a reference as well as a marketing tool for clients unfamiliar with our industry and hesitant to proceed. Plus, with the recent increase in interest and funding in productions outside of the GTA this guide is London's calling card to a world of production companies, distributors and broadcasters.
A: 1,500 copies will be printed. Members and nonmembers can purchase them for a nominal fee. The FEMA office, the City of London and OFDC (Ontario Film Development Corp) Toronto, will distribute on inquiries. They can also be mailed directly to producers and directors in large production centers.
A: Yes. First, by listing your name and your services, you become part of a "pool" of professionals that are available to an ever-increasing number of London productions. And second, by marketing London to the outside world, the guide also helps to encourage the steady growth of our industry. It is the most important resource used by provincial and national funding and development agencies when promoting locations and trade events. It's critical that the guide be a complete, accurate and exciting "snapshot" our region.
This guide will be used by industry professionals, local retail and corporate businesses, governments, production companies and film commissions as a master list of the resources available in the London area. Listings are free to FEMA members who have paid an annual $50 membership. Additional ad spaces are also available. As this guide will be used by other professionals in this industry looking for specific resources, please write your description with this in mind. It is important for each company to accurately represent the services they offer to make this a quality resource guide and that the database always be kept updated for a trusted and accurate source of information. We've provided some guidelines throughout for filling out the app to ensure professionalism and quality.
